 Namasté Garden Environments is a DESIGN/BUILD firm, providing concept, design, installation, and preservation throughout the greater New York/New Jersey area.
Founder, Meeka Asayag, has been trained by Landscape Architects and holds a degree in Landscape Design from The New York Botanical Gardens. The school is acknowledged worldwide as a leader in horticultural excellence, scientific research, and educational programs. She is also a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers.
A Designed Difference: Landscape Design creates the proper foundation for everything that follows. Namasté Garden Environments is a Design/Build firm which means we install the landscapes that we design. Unlike the planting, the garden’s architecture, once in place, cannot be changed without a great deal of effort and expense. We like to make our architectural experiments on paper, not on the ground.
Linking House and Garden: Houses & gardens are inextricably linked. A strong design however will give the impression of the house and garden having an integral unity and of having grown up together. Key to the partnership’s style is sensitivity to the site, attention to detail and in particular, the use of generous planting. Our goal is to make house and garden parts of an inseparable whole, with the house “looking like it grew out of the garden”.
 We thoroughly research the architectural style of the home and create the design based on that style. We rely as much as possible on the architecture of the house to inspire our gardens. Plant material, masonry, and architectural features are selected based on that research.
Each garden that is installed is completely different from the next, giving each property a special uniqueness.
Teamwork: Teamwork becomes very important in linking house and garden as well. Our success in garden design relies on working closely with the architect, builder, interior designer and especially the client. When all are kept in the loop, the outcome is a strong cohesive design.
 Green Design: Green design is part of the entire landscape plan from design inception to final installation. Strong sustainable design begins with analyzing the grade of the current property and creating or working with the land to maximize water retention and reduce the excessive need for irrigation. Grading helps solve our water needs. At times, installing ‘rain gardens’ and or rain barrels to capture runoff and grey water is an option. Natural organic methods of soil preparation, planting and preservation is used to ensure green living. All soil prep is created with proper soil/compost ratios and pesticides are never used to eradicate problems, natural methods are. It’s all in the soil. The use of natives and drought tolerant plants help create a chic, yet green environments for all clients.
